LOG ON Once Again Wins Innovation Award
Maastricht, June 13, 2007 -- By winning the Vele d’Oro LOG ON, a Dutch company specialised in the creation of mobile services and products for the event industry, has once again won an important award. After having been declared the winner of last year’s EIBTM WorldWide Technology Watch Award for the Event Assistant, LOG ON now did not only receive the innovation award for event software in Italy, but the judges also awarded them the overall first prize. The Vele d’Oro is an international award that is presented annually at the Federcongressi Annual Conference, the biggest trade congress of the Italian meeting industry.
In recent years the use of the Internet and e-mail by means of mobile phones has increased tremendously. People no longer use their mobile phones simply for making phone calls but more and more to surf on the Internet.
On the basis of this trend LOG ON developed the Event Assistant, an application that provides participants in an event through their own mobile phones with the information, communication and interaction they need. With their mobile phones visitors can look at web pages on which they can find all relevant information on the event, such as the agenda, transport to the event, hotel information, a city guide and so on.
Participants in a congress may network easier with the Event Assistant by looking for a name, position or company or they can find exhibitors easier by looking for a product type or a company name. The user can then make contact immediately by using his mobile phone or by sending a text message.
Event organizers may provide delegates with the latest information by sending text messages to individuals or groups. It is also possible to have interaction with the public, the result of a vote that is taken by means of SMS can be presented live to the audience on a screen.
The information that is shown on the mobile phone through the Event Assistant comes from a website that is managed centrally and that can be adjusted immediately for example in case of changes in the programme. This way the information for the users is always up-to-date. The Event Assistant is available to anyone who owns a mobile phone or PDA with an Internet connection, irrespective of the country of origin, the mobile phone provider or the mobile handset that is used.
During the congress the judges, all of them top people in the Italian meeting industry, visited all the stands at the fair and judged the seven finalists on the innovation, quality and added value of their products. Apparently the judges were favourably impressed by the Event Assistant and rewarded LOG ON with the highest possible number of points. In his reaction Johan Bax, director of LOG ON, says that he is very honoured to have won this award. ‘Winning the Vele d’Oro shows that the Event Assistant is a unique product that enjoys international appreciation’.
