PRESENTATIONS:
Changing the World with Persuasive Communication
Dr. Nick Morgan
Sales will fall short, strategies won’t be heard and employees won’t change if they lack the one vital skill that underlies all the rest of them: communication. Persuasive communication is essential for success. But the communication skills we’ve developed over the millennia don’t always serve us well in today’s working world.
Today, we're tired of show and theatrics when it comes to business. We want authentic people and organizations. Think about the boss, teacher or colleague who made an impression on you. Chances are it was an ability to be genuine that compelled you to listen. Authenticity creates trust.
And then there’s charisma. Having charisma means creating a memorable impression in an ADD 24/7 information-overloaded world.
Authenticity and charisma together can change the world.
How do you get started? You need a compelling message. People often use presentations to dump information on an audience. But they're a poor way to convey information -- audiences only remember 10 -30 percent of what they hear. Good presentations respect the decision-making process of the audience and deliver information in a way that’s memorable and easy for the audience to digest. Successful speeches move people to action, inspiring them to commit to new goals, activities, and ideas.

THE SPEECH
Every Speech is a Chance to Change the World: Make It Persuasive
Nick shows how to structure your content to take your audience on a decision-making journey that leads to the action you desire.
It’s common knowledge that storytelling is the most memorable way to communicate a message. Stories last in the memory and motivate people to act. What’s not well understood is how to tell a story. There are five different basic types of stories. How do you pick the right one, and apply it to all your communications?

THE SPEECH
Taking Your Audience on a Journey: Stories Create Change
Nick shows you how to construct a compelling story from one of the basic archetypes our culture provides, and how to shape that story for your own needs. And why you should funnel every bit of communication you do through that story.
When the content is created, one step remains. Intent is just as important as content. What is the story you’re telling with your body language? When your message and the intent behind it are not aligned, people believe the body language every time. Only when your body language and message align will people pay attention and you will be perceived as authentic.

THE SPEECH
Body Language Is the Loudest Message – What Are You Saying?
Nick shows you how to identify the two conversations -- content and body language -- and how to align them.
Finally, the world demands authenticity in our messages. We’ve been spun, hyped, and marketed to until we crave authenticity from our leaders more than polish, charm, or even expertise. But what is authenticity, and how do you project it? It’s communicated through your body language.
