Introduction to the Meeting Support Institute The Meeting Support Institute is a non-profit association with a mission: to develop a new category in the meetings industry alongside logistics and hospitality, which is familiar to anyone in the industry. The emerging category of meeting support brings together tools and services with a common objective to produce better meetings with more powerful, measurable results. Membership in the Meeting Support Institute provides new avenues to develop and promote your products and services, while learning more about the strategic meeting products and services on the market. For meeting planners, we provide a wide range of resources to improve their meetings toward today’s major challenges such as ROI, regulatory limitations, procurement etc. Here are some of the things we have achieved since opening for membership in January 2006, and some of our future plans:
The Meeting Support Community and its Market
MSI is emerging as a global community of companies that deliver meeting support. Over time, the community will help develop the meeting support market as a recognized component of the broader meetings industry. MSI membership is a unique opportunity to meet people and companies in the same market with similar or different products and explore opportunities for collaboration. Website The MSI website is open to everyone. It is a database on meeting support tools, services, books, articles or research interesting for meeting planners. |
The Meeting Support Matrix The Meeting Support Matrix and its underlying methodology are designed to help members position and market their products in an innovative way. | |
Learning Lab The MSI Learning Lab combines a short presentation with a demo of meeting support tools and services. |
Publications We are working on a meeting support book to help members explain and showcase their products and services. | |
Presentations The Meeting Support Institute regularly presents at conferences hosted by MPI and its local chapters, other associations and at a variety of international events. |
Media We receive support from magazines and media. Some publish our logo with link on their websites and some even give free advertising space for our members! | |
Group Stands at Trade Shows Members of the Meeting Support Institute join together to participate in trade shows across Europe and North America. All members are represented by printed materials, and are welcome to purchase space at the stand at the lowest possible cost. It gives our members the possibility to investigate a new trade show in the meetings industry. |
Newsletter Our newsletter is sent to international meeting planners and press. It contains short, informative articles with a picture and a link. News from our members is included at no cost. | |
Certification in Meeting Support Management MSI is exploring a certification standard for meeting support managers, be they meeting planners or industry suppliers. This certification will be based on our current knowledge base (available on our website). |
