Advanced Meeting Management Master

With "Meeting Architecture, a manifesto.", I also want to set the scene for creating a new masters degree with a pure focus on content. Now it seems in Italy a big step in that direction is been taken:
Did you know that the Italian Federation 'Federcongressi' is working on masters in meeting management each of 450 hours of teaching in class, including 120 hours managed by professors of Sociology, Psychology and Business Administration?
MPI Italy is member of Federcongressi and Rodolfo Musco is serving as coordinator of "professional development"

Meeting Architecture defined
Posted May 7th, 2008 by maarten.vanneste
A meeting architect is an individual that focuses on the potential meeting objectives, the meeting formats and designs, and the conceptual and practical building blocks to construct a meeting for better learning, networking and motivation in the participant population. A meeting architect also knows how to measure the meeting results up to its Return on Investment.
The meeting architect works in four (IDEA) phases:
- Idintifying meeting objectives
- Designing the meeting to support these objectives
- Executing and guiding the meeting towards its objectives
- Assessing the meeting results compared to the objectives
The meeting industry that exists today (2007) focuses mainly on the tourism and hospitality side of meetings: Travel, lodging and F&B. The meeting industry is professional in creating the shell where meeting architecture wants to help in building the substance.

Master Class: The New Discipline of Meeting Design (MPI, WEC 2008)
Posted May 6th, 2008 by maarten.vanneste9 Aug 2008 - 08:00
9 Aug 2008 - 17:00
Etc/GMT
Location:
Las Vegas
This workshop is aimed at “elevating the conversation” for a select group of WEC participants. Specifically created for more advanced and ambitious in-house and third-party planners, it will provide an overview of the concept of meeting design. The meetings industry has been, up to this point in its history, primarily focused on excellence in meeting logistics. Meeting design, on the other hand, addresses the ways in which meetings can be more interactive, engaging, and strategic.
This Master Class includes an interview with Maarten Vanneste, CMM author of 'Meeting Architecture, a manifesto' (MSI 2008)
MPI establishes bond with the Masie Center & Learning Consortium
Posted April 4th, 2008 by administrator in
With intentions to transform the meetings industry, MPI and the MPI foundation have formed a creative alliance with the Masie Center & Learning Consortium, which boasts a worldwide membership of more than 1000 “learning leaders” from corporations such as Wal-Mart, Home depot, Target, American Express and 3M. “As more companies embrace the strategic role meetings play in achieving their business goals, an even greater emphasis will be placed on how to conduct a more productive meeting by employing new technologies,, re-examining the overall structure of meetings and enhanced knowledge and training for meeting professionals,” said Bruce MacMillan, MPI president and CEO.
