AMI is a multi-disciplinary 15-member consortium dedicated to the research and development of technology that will augment communications between individuals and groups of people. Partners in the AMI project conduct research focused on the use of advanced signal processing, machine learning models and social interaction dynamics to improve human-to-human communications, particularly during business meetings between co-located and remote (virtual) participants. The research is leading to the preparation of technologies which will be included in commercial solutions of the future. Solutions with AMI technologies will enhance the experience of meetings and enrich corporate knowledge management systems, enabling enterprise assets to include searchable and intelligent meeting archives.

facilitator guides group processes to bring forth the expertise already existent in the group. In doing so, the facilitator seeks to strengthen groups by allowing them to perceive and discipline their unique strengths and weaknesses. The nature of the service the facilitator offers is catalytic. For both the facilitator and the coach, it is the performance of the client(s) that is the subject of their intervention. This involves a detailed focus on the way individuals and groups interact.Facilitation focuses primarily on processes in which information is exchanged among the participants in a group. The facilitator 'eases' this exchange, using structured techniques and communication skills. The facilitator knows how to draw the answers out of those who know them best - the people doing the job. The facilitator asks questions, guides a group to consensus, and uses information to demonstrate the need for action.

Often decisions about educational topics, program participants, room setups and session formats are made without considering their impact on achieving the meeting’s educational goals. Join this facilitated discussion and come prepared to share success stories, horror stories, best practices and questions. After participating, you will be able to explain the basic principles of adult learning and how to factor them into the educational design of a meeting, describe the physical attributes of a meeting room that encourage or discourage learning and demonstrate best practices in selecting and preparing volunteer program participants

Working with Ed Bernacki Ed Bernacki's presentations are colourful and insightful. His style is informative and designed to get people to think in new ways. He often opens presentations by asking, "How many of you attend workshops or conferences like this, make notes, and never look at them again?" Generally one half of every audience admits - "yes that's me!" He then provides insights for listening and recording ideas in new ways. His presentations are designed to be colourful, interesting and non-traditional. You can download a sample of recent handout version of a presentation. Workshops - the ideal setting is round tables with participants expecting to participate. A data projector and screen are required. Ib Ravn - Denmark
